A perfect day in Santa Monica starts with a ride along the bike path on a beach cruiser. Two wheels not your style? You can also rent roller blades or just stroll along on foot. My favorite rental company is Perry’s, with multiple locations along the beach. There is even Blazing Saddles (operated by Perry’s) located right at the Santa Monica Pier.
A Bike Ride, The Pier, Trapeze Class, Oh My!
After a good beach cruise, you have to spend some time on the Santa Monica Pier. Of course there is the famous Ferris Wheel, an arcade, and for those who are super adventurous, I definitely suggest taking a class at the Trapeze School! Talk about a memorable experience!
Of course, any perfect day includes a bit of retail therapy. Just three blocks off the beach is Third Street Promenade and Santa Monica Place. From more commercial brands to smaller boutiques, there is shopping to please all.
Taking full advantage of being on the West Coast, you have to make sure to catch the sunset over the ocean. Luckily, there are several fantastic restaurants along Ocean Avenue that are perfect for capping off the day with some stellar cocktails and tasty food. Personal favorites include The Lobster, BOA Steakhouse, Sushi Roku, Blue Plate Oysterette, Del Frisco’s, and the ever famous, Ivy at the Shore.
