The Joy of Cruising: Norwegian Joy

Last month I had the pleasure of experiencing Norwegian Joy on a short cruise from Vancouver down to Los Angeles! Much like it’s sister ship, Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Joy has all the fun bells and whistles. From a laser tag course to a VR game room, it actually was the very first ship to have a go-kart race track!

Inaugural Cruise – Vancouver to LA

For those who follow cruise ships, you might be wondering why there was just an inaugural on a ship that came out in 2017?

Norwegian Joy was originally built for the Chinese market and launched two years ago. Last year, Norwegian Bliss was introduced and dominated the Alaskan cruise market. In fact, there continued to be such a strong demand for cruises to Alaska, that NCL renovated Norwegian Joy to cater to the American market and provide another ship on this incredible route!

Norwegian Joy is a GREAT ship!

The staterooms are spacious. In fact, they were larger than other cruises I have been on! We stayed on the concierge floor which meant we stayed on a higher deck. Norwegian Joy is varied specialty restaurants and top-notch live entertainment, everything on board Norwegian Joy rocks! Food Republic is, hands down, my favorite restaurant. Serving a pan-Asian menu, you order dinner off of tablets. Of course, you can’t go wrong with Le Bistro, for impeccable French cuisine. Looking for dinner and a show? Teppanyaki is always a crowd pleaser with kids.

Looking to book a cruise? Norwegian is great for couples, families with older kids, and they even have a few great options for solo travelers.

Personally, I loved my experience on Norwegian Joy. I suggest hanging out in my favorite place on board–the Observation Lounge! A feature unique to this class of ship, Norwegian designed the Observation Lounge so that cruisers could enjoy more of the views. I love tucking away into the lounge to enjoy a drink and a change of pace from the rest of the ship.

Of course, I can go on in details. But I think that video speaks a thousand words. Check out my instastory experience here:
