It’s officially Fall, and with Summer behind us, it’s time to focus on what LA has to offer gastronomically. Since it’s no longer bikini season, let your taste buds play a little while hunting down the best food trucks, savoring world-class wines, and maybe enjoying a flash-frozen liquid nitrogen treat.
Must Try List: Food and Drink
You name it, if you’re craving it, there is always someplace in Los Angeles that is serving what your tummy desires! Here are my top picks for those making waves in the culinary and vinous world.
Malibu Rocky Oaks
This is anything but your average vineyard. Malibu Rocky Oaks offers an exclusive experience, with stunning 360-degree views, award winning wines, and memories of a lifetime. One of Southern California’s most coveted wedding venues, Malibu Rocky Oaks is the place to host your special event. It’s the type of place where you can fly in and land on their helipad for a perfect proposal or score an extraordinary, private tour of the estate midweek.
#ConciergeTip: Join their wine club! You’ll have some of the best wine from California delivered to your doorstep and get an invite to party at the estate once every quarter!
Grilled Cheese Truck
Everyone loves a good food truck, just as much as they love a solid grilled cheese sammy. Combine the two and you’ve got one of the most followed and sought after food trucks in LA! You can’t go wrong with a classic order, but I urge you to venture outside the box and try the Roast Brie, Cheesy Mac and Rib, or one of their dessert melts. Follow with a friend so you have room to try their tomato soup and tater tots.
#ConciergeTip: Stalking is encouraged. Find out their daily whereabouts via twitter at @grlldcheesetruk.
The Church Key
One of my favorite new restaurants, The Church Key makes going out to eat fun again! The menu is Modern American, and they serve their small-plates, Dim-Sum style! Part regular menu and part rotating menu, the experience is always different. Cute waitresses dressed as Pan-Am Stewardesses add a little flare in an atmosphere that is both comfortable (think sofas), easy (mis-matching, vintage plates), and rustic (exposed brick walls).
#ConciergeTip: I’m slightly in love with their salt and vinegar popcorn served at the bar. Also their alcoholic otter-pops are delicious!
The most coveted reservation of the Summer, Nobu Malibu rocks an incredible location and a stellar menu. Arguably one of the best Nobu restaurants of the famed-chain, there’s not a bad seat in the house. With floor to ceiling windows, you can soak up the sea breeze while sipping on a Yuzu Kumqat Cooler and dining on mini Tuna Tacos, Rock Shrimp Tempura, and melt-in-your-mouth Chilean Sea Bass. Open all day, every day, they offer a smaller “bar” menu between 3 and 5:45 pm.
#ConciergeTip: Waited too long to get a reservation? No problem. They take walk-ins! Enjoy a cocktail or two while you wait for a seat. It’s worth it.
